About Bread, Espresso & Thirroul

I’m excited to introduce Bread, Espresso & Thirroul, a relaxed cafe that fits perfectly into the laid-back coastal rhythm of Thirroul. Located at 190 Lawrence Hargrave Dr, Thirroul NSW 2515, Australia, this spot feels like the kind of place you discover once and then keep coming back to, whether you’re a local or just passing through. The cafe vibe is casual and welcoming, making it easy to settle in with a coffee, catch up with friends, or enjoy a quiet moment on your own. One of the things that stands out right away is how flexible the experience is, because you can choose outdoor seating for some fresh air, grab a quick takeaway on the go, or sit down and enjoy a proper dine-in meal. Bread, Espresso & Thirroul is especially known for its coffee, which anchors the menu and pairs effortlessly with a range of prepared foods designed for both light snacking and more filling bites. If you’re someone who likes to eat well without overthinking it, you’ll appreciate the healthy options alongside small plates and quick bites that don’t feel rushed or boring. There’s also a thoughtful mix of vegetarian and vegan options, which makes it easy to find something that suits different preferences without sacrificing flavor. On-site services keep everything running smoothly, while delivery is handy for days when you want the cafe experience without leaving home. What really makes Bread, Espresso & Thirroul appealing is how naturally it blends quality food, good coffee, and an easygoing atmosphere into one consistent experience. It’s the type of cafe you recommend without hesitation, because it works just as well for a casual breakfast, a midday coffee break, or a simple meal that feels fresh, satisfying, and comfortably familiar. The menu feels approachable yet considered, balancing everyday comfort with enough variety to keep each visit interesting and easy to enjoy at any pace.

The indoor seating here is limited, but there’s a charming “backyard” area with more tables, each accommodating up to 6 people. My favorite dish was the sourdough toast with scrambled eggs—the toast was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The slice was impressively large, making it ideal for sharing between 2 people. We also tried the almond croissant, which stood out as the most "solid" croissant I've had. Unlike the usual soft and flaky croissants, this one was filled! It had a sweet filling made from a blend of almond sugar and other ingredients I couldn’t quite recall. If the weather is nice, definitely opt for the outdoor seating—it's a lovely spot!

Nice coffee, croissant is very yummy, crispy and chewy. Cinnamon roll is worthy to try, cinnamon and sugar are in a perfect ratio, make it have rich and multiple layers tastes.

This is a go to place in Thirroul for espresso and awesome baked treats. Unfortunately I didn’t think to take photos, however you won’t be disappointed with the food and coffee here. It’s popular, and sometimes there’s a wait on the coffee, so some old school patience doesn’t astray here. It’s a go to for us when we visit friends in Thirroul, and we’ll be back for sure

Huge thanks to Bread & Espresso for letting me do part of a photo shoot there today. Great food and coffee, great people, and one of the best little spots in Wollongong.

Great selection of food on the menu. I had a toastie, which was quite generous and delicious. Nice coffee and friendly service too.
